Grandma S came to visit last week, and the fun did not stop. There was not a dull moment. Truly.
We split a long weekend between Washington D.C. and New York City. So fun, but next time we'll just pick one city and savor it. There is so much to see, do, and eat in both cities! Here's a whirlwind travel-log.
Washington D.C. (2 days):
* Fort McHenry, where Francis Scott Key wrote "The Star Spangled Banner."
* Washington D.C. temple
* Arlington National Cemetery, Tomb of the Unknowns for the ceremony of the changing of the guards
* The National Mall (think Washington, Jefferson, & Lincoln. Not H&M, Banana Republic, & Gap.)
* Smithsonian Museum of Air & Space
New York City (1 1/2 days):
* Begging the hotel manager to please change our room from one king to two queen beds, thereby sparing my sweet mother-in-law from having to sleep in the same bed with Kirk and me. That wouldn't be awkward, right?
* Central Park
* Korea Town (for Kirk to demonstrate his bilingual awesomeness)
* Times Square
* Attempting to visit Ellis Island & the Statue of Liberty, only to change plans when seeing that the line for ferry tickets was about a mile long. Trinity Church, Wall Street, Battery Park, & American Indian Smithsonian instead.
What did I tell you? We don't mess around.
