Thanksgiving and D.C.

Happy Thanksgiving! It has taken me these 4 days since the feast to roll over to my laptop and post these pictures. :o)

We spent Thanksgiving with my sister in Washington D.C., where Dayton was entertained nonstop by his cousins and I learned a few pointers in the kitchen. We found that it is possible to cook a very large meal in a very little kitchen, and that pipe cleaners make for happy, occupied children. Now that we are home and it's just me and Dayton all day, he misses all the excitement of Tara's house.

After the holiday we saw the sights in D.C. We started at the Capitol...

followed by the Lincoln Memorial...

and the Jefferson Memorial...

We snapped a few quick pics of Dayton (he points at everyone and everything--funny boy).

It was a perfect day for pictures and sight-seeing.

Somewhere along the way a squirrel came close to us and I coaxed him over nice and easy...and he let me pet him! It was almost the highlight of the trip for me.

Seriously, how many Squirrel Whisperers do you know? Here's the proof:

On Saturday we decided to see if we could find any leftovers from the Black Friday crowd-trampling-pepper-spray madness, and we scored a flatscreen tv! Our old tv is a 300-pound gigantic safety hazard that sits on our floor unless we watch a movie, because it could seriously be fatal if that thing ever tipped over. If not for us, then surely for our neighbors below us, cause that thing would fall through our floor and their ceiling.

Since we had our trunk full of suitcases and our backseat full of Dayton, I got to carry our new tv home on my lap. :o)

Good times, good times.

  1. Did you skip everything in between the Capital and the Lincoln? You got some great photos!

I can't believe you fit that TV in your car!!! Hopefully that was pretty close to home so you didn't have to go too far with that on your lap!

Maybe that squirrel could smell a few remnants of your turkey dinner still on your finger tips and was pulled in by the irresistible aroma!

  2. So glad you have Tara close by. Your mom misses both her girls and their babies. And congrats on the new TV. SCORE
