"...Start A Love Train..."

It's interesting to reminisce about where Kirk and I were just one year ago. Close your eyes and let me paint the picture for you...

For Valentine's Day 2009, we decided to make a trip up to the 'Burg so Kirk could meet my family. At that time, we were missing two important ingredients in our relationship.
1) I knew I loved him...he knew he loved me, even though we had not said the "L-word" to each other. But I had a pretty good idea that I wanted us to be a forever thing.
2) He had not kissed me. (Weird that I wanted to marry him before he kissed me?? Maybe to some people. But when you know, you know.)

He surprised me that morning with roses and a letter to set the mood for the day. After all the fun of meeting my family, we were saying goodnight and he again surprised me, this time with a kiss. I won't try to recreate the moment--suffice it to say it was perfect. After that I went to my room to read the letter he'd given me, which said that he loved me and why. It was so perfect.

So, after we added those two ingredients to the mix, things snowballed from there and we were married five months later. :) Gotta love Mormon engagements.

Fast forward to this year. Kirk brought home roses (which he does fairly often) and we ate dinner at a wonderful restaurant. The food was so delicious! The dazed look on my face is due to the chocolatey-peanutbuttery-goodness we had for dessert. Mmmmm....

If the story stopped here, it would have been a wonderful day. Anytime we can just be together is great; our schedules are so busy that we don't get an opportunity to relax very often. But while I was sound asleep, Kirk snuck out of bed to give me another Valentine's Day surprise. When I stumbled out of bed this morning and opened our bedroom door, this is what I saw:

And this...

Our apartment was covered in paper hearts on which he'd written me little notes. Kirk has a talent for creating great memories and making me feel like a million bucks. What can I say, I'm a lucky girl.

Isn't love great?!
