Snow. . .For Real This Time

Arkansas weathermen have warned us about a few "terrible storms" in the six months we've been here. This time they weren't joking. If you've been watching the news, you've probably heard about the crazy weather the South has had since Thursday. ALL DAY Friday we had freezing rain followed by snow, creating a thick layer of ice under deceptively beautiful snow. It's probably about equal to a hefty Idaho/Utah snow storm.

Needless to say, the town shut down. The stores are empty of staples like milk, eggs, bread, and windshield scrapers. Seriously, Wal-Mart is fresh out of windshield scrapers.

I looked out the window this morning to see this poor native Arkansan trying to improvise. (I promise I don't usually take pictures of people while peeking through my blinds without their knowledge. That would be creepy...) Check out what she's trying to scrape her windshield with.

Yes, that is a plastic water pitcher. It looks like she tried to de-ice with hot water as well. Poor thing! I was laughing so hard I didn't even think to offer to let her use my real scraper. But bless her little Southern heart, she's doing a pretty good job.

  1. Wow! I would have been laughing hard, too! I wonder if she thought the whole, "I'm going to pour water on my car while the temperature is below freezing," equation? lol.
