This little man had his 4-month check-up in February
* head circumference 17 1/2 inches (85th percentile)
* height 26 inches (87th percentile)
* weight 15 pounds (51st percentile).
Apparently he inherited both his daddy's height and intelligence. He is a solid, strong kid. He prefers to stand on our laps rather than sit, and will walk if we hold him up with his hands.
He's also a charmer. If he sees me walk past him, he'll unleash a crooked grin that seems to say, "Don't you want to come over here and give me some more dinner?" or "No matter how messy this diaper is, you know I'm still the cutest thing you've ever had the privilege to change." Which would be an accurate statement--being a nurse, I've seen and done things that would either make you roll with laughter or pass out on the floor. Dayton will smile at anyone, but it's fun to see that smile of recognition when he sees Kirk or me.

For Valentine's Day, Kirk kidnapped Dayton and me and took us on an adventure for the weekend. My great-grandparents lived in Cripple Creek, Colorado, which is a teeny tiny mining town near Pike's Peak. This photo is taken from a vantage point overlooking Cripple Creek; you can see for MILES!! It's so beautiful.
Lucky for us, it was Cripple Creek's 4th annual Ice Carving Festival that same weekend. This was an "ice-slide" for the kids...
and a sled pulled by polar bears...
and Kirk lamenting "the one that got away".
We were also able to visit the cemetery where my great-grandparents and other relatives are buried. It was fun to peek into my heritage.
On the way back down the mountain, we stopped at "Garden of the Gods", which is a miniature version of Zion National Park. We drove through as the sun was setting, but were still able to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
We also toured the Air Force Academy and experienced Panera Bread for the first time. You must go, it's healthy AND delicious.
Our parents' birthdays are in February, so we sneaked home unannounced and surprised each of our families with a visit. We put Dayton in his car seat at the front door, rang the door bell and hid out of sight. It was so fun to hear their surprise at finding their little grandson on the doorstep!
Connor, Jaden, and Dayton
Jaden being so sweet to help Dayton hold his head up :o)
It's a work in progress...
Sadly, I did not take any pictures in Utah but we did have a great time. We managed to enjoy both Cafe Rio
and Tucanos in the same trip. ::still savoring the deliciousness:: I miss you, Grilled Pineapple and Bacon-Wrapped Turkey.
